Whatever insurance cover I have, what happens if I leave my car or bike with the keys in it and it’s stolen?


Even if you leave your vehicle for a minute to pop into a shop and your car or bike is unlocked and/or with the keys in the ignition, you will not be covered in the event of theft.

Can I change the level of cover during the term of my policy?

The simple answer is no but of course we’ll try to help you.  Most insurers will expect you to have considered this in advance.  However we would always recommend talking to us.   Premium Choice policyholders can call our Customer Services Dept on 0845 073 7410.

If I have comprehensive insurance, am I covered to drive a friend’s car or ride their bike?


Normally yes, but you MUST check your policy first.  If you are covered then this would only cover you for third party insurance ,and only if you have taken out a comprehensive policy.  Naturally you would have to be driving or riding with the permission of the owner of the vehicle in question.

Am I covered to drive a hire car?

No.  You have to take out insurance from the rental company, who will normally give you various options, some of which you will have to pay extra for.
