What kind of modifications or customisations do you insure?

Modified and customised cars are a very important area of our business and we’re considered to be specialists.  This means we can insure just about any vehicle which has been changed from its original specification.  Please take a look at our customised car insurance and modified car insurance pages, as well as the information below.

Does it matter what kind of modification have I done on my car or bike?

Yes it does.  In many cases we can insure you at no extra premium but in some instances the underwriters will take a different view.

The important thing is to know that if you don’t declare any changes to your car or bike’s standard spec then you may not be covered at all in the event of an accident.

I’ve customised / modified my car or bike since I started the insurance – should I call you?


Yes.  Let’s get you legally covered.  Many customisations can result in no additional premium but it’s best to be sure.  If you’re an existing client please call 0845 073 7410 or 0330 5555 868 (uses inclusive mobile minutes).

Does my policy cover me to drive other cars?

Please check your certificate of insurance, most custom car policies exclude driving other cars.

How old does a vehicle have to be for a Custom Car policy?

This varies, but in general we are particularly competitive with insurance for cars that are over 20 years old that have been modified.

When it comes to modified or customised cars or bikes, the best thing is always to call us (or have us ‘call you back’) and we’ll do everything we can to get you the cheapest insurance we can, using all of our experience.
